IBM, Merck and other companies announced that their drug tracking blockchain pilot reached the benchmark set by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration

The final report submitted to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) shows that the drug tracking blockchain pilots of IBM, Merck, Walmart, and KPMG have reached the benchmarks set by the FDA. The report pointed out that distributed ledger technology (DLT) can ensure the smooth implementation of the US Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA). The bill will enable the pharmaceutical industry to implement strict new electronic tracking programs for pharmaceutical packaging by 2024. The project is built on Hyperledger Fabric and the pilot started in June 2019.
