US Democratic Party’s draft economic stimulus contains “digital dollar” related clauses

The Democratic Party in the United States is preparing a large-scale stimulus bill to deal with the economic impact of new coronary pneumonia. A version of the bill includes a clause that, if passed, will create a “digital dollar” to stimulate user payments . In the bill, digital dollars are defined as “balances expressed in dollar value, including any digital ledger records recorded by the Federal Reserve Bank’s liabilities. A digital unit of value storage that can be redeemed by a qualified financial institution.” It is not clear whether the clause will be included in the final version of the bill.
