ConsenSys researcher proposes improvement proposal to reduce Ethereum transfer fee by 22%

ConsenSys researcher Matt Garnett put forward the draft of Ethereum improvement proposal EIP-2780, suggesting to reduce the cost of Ethereum ordinary transfers from the original 21,000 gas by 22% to 16,360 gas. The plan says that 16,360 gas is calculated after a conservative estimate, which means that the current transaction cost is overestimated by 4,640 gas. However, the plan stated that at least security considerations are required. For example, after increasing the number of transactions per block, the number of “uncle blocks” may increase.
