Ethereum’s median transaction fee is approaching $0.5, a two-year high, which may be related to the DeFi boom

Data from the on-chain data analysis company CoinMetrics shows that the current median transaction fee of Ethereum is approaching $0.5, a new high since August 2018. Glassnode data shows that the median Ethereum gas fee has also reached the highest level since early July 2018. Cryptocurrency startup Amun commented on this that the growth of DeFi has led to higher fees for smart contract transfers and ETH. This may be at the expense of use cases that rely on large capacity and low cost (such as games).
