The U.S. House of Representatives adds two blockchain technology amendments to the annual defense spending bill

The U.S. House of Representatives passed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), the Congress’s annual defense spending bill. The bill adds two amendments related to blockchain technology. One of the amendments requires the Deputy Minister of Defense Research and Engineering Defense to study the potential uses, recommendations, etc. of distributed ledger technology (DLT) for defense purposes, and adds a requirement to report research results to Congress. Another amendment adds DLT to the definition of “emerging technology” to include it in the evaluation of the newly formed Emerging Technology Steering Committee.
