Media: Iran authorizes power plants to mine Bitcoin

According to Bitcoin.com citing local Iranian media reports, Mostafa Rajabi Mashhadi, deputy director of Iran’s power generation, distribution and transmission company Tavanir, confirmed that Iranian power plants are allowed to mine cryptocurrency. He stated that entities must apply for the necessary licenses from the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade (Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade) and comply with the tariffs on crypto mining. According to previous reports from Chain News, the Iranian government has issued operating licenses to 14 cryptocurrency mines, allowing each mine to have a capacity of 300 MW. So far, the Iranian Ministry of Industry, Mining and Trade has issued more than 1,000 operating licenses for cryptocurrency mines.
